Design Check List

The materials and file formats we need to create your web site:

SIGNED AGREEMENT
Once a bid for site design and hosting is confirmed, a contract will be mailed or fax'd for your approval and signature. This must be returned with the materials (below) in order to begin creating your web site. Deposit/payment may be by check, money order, or credit card in US funds as detailed in your agreement.

PHOTOGRAPHS
Please send regular photographs meaning: no photographer's proofs, slides, or laser copies, please. Please indicate if you have any strong preferences where an image should be cropped, etc. If a photo is to be digitally airbrushed or other photo effects applied, please explain what you wish to have done. Digital airbrushing is always available, but is an additional charge if requested by the client after the original job is bid.

SCANNED IMAGES
If your photos are already scanned, they must be at least 300 dpi high quality scans no smaller than 600 pixels wide in RGB true color format saved to either BITMAPs, TIFFs, or Photoshop PSDs. Each file saved must have either a ".bmp", ".tif", or ".psd" extension after the file name in order to be read on a Windows system (ex: "stud.bmp"). No JPEGs - as the compression techniques used to format JPEGs degrade their quality too much to work with as 'originals'. Scanned images may be mailed on PC-formatted 3.5" disks, PC formatted ZIP disks, or PC compatible CD. (We cannot use Macintosh formatted materials.) Because of file size, we cannot receive high resolution images by email. Please, do not email your images.

TEXT
Your text or 'copy' can be easily emailed or saved to disk in plain text format, with double line breaks between paragraphs. Text may also be sent hand written or typed, but additional charges may apply for formatting. If you have several areas of text, please indicate which area each piece of text belongs with. Or, you might title each piece: Stallion 1, Stallion 2, Ranch History, etc. just so it is clear where you wish them to go. Additional charges will apply to what we refer to as "surprise" text as in: pages of text or additional sections to the web site not discussed when the original job was bid.

PEDIGREES & PRODUCE RECORDS
Please send the clearest copy(s) you have available to help eliminate possible 'guessing' scenarios (aka pedigree research). FAX'd copies and handwriting can sometimes be very difficult to decipher and may lead to confusing spelling errors.

LOGOS
If you are currently using a brand or logo, please send a clear copy (letterhead is fine - black on white, if possible) in as large a size as available for clearest scanning. Brands can be sketched if a photo or letterhead isn't available. If an .EPS file is available, that can be included on a disk or CD.

COLOR PREFERENCES
If you have a definite color scheme or preference, please send samples (paint chips or copies of ads) for closest color matching. Sometimes 'green' to one person is really 'teal' to another. oops...

BEST WAYS TO SEND
Priority Mail (delivery confirmation optional)
Fed-Ex
UPS
We never recommend regular mail as it cannot be tracked if something should happen. Some photos, as we know, are virtually irreplaceable. We've had excellent luck over the years with Fed-Ex and Priority mail.
