Old Time Fox Trotters : Template Theft

Strangely enough, no sooner had Caprine Designs removed content and HTML code taken from Equine Web Design on their own design site, caprinedesigns.com, upon receipt of a Notice of Infringement [08-11-2004], Caprine Designs published a new version of oldtimefoxtrotters.com using the same HTML code as a template.

No, Second Time Isn't A Charm

On two separate web sites Caprine Designs used Equine Web Design's original work in violation of our copyrights. Yet another Notice of Infringement was sent to both Caprine Designs, the domain owners of oldtimefoxtrotters.com, and their web host.

www.oldtimefoxtrotters.com states:
This site was originally produced using Macromedia Dreamweaver, using a generic HTML coding with a CSS stylesheet. Any and all source coding, graphics, overall design, photos, text and other content was originally created by us. Any reference contrary to this is in dispute...

Better yet, let's just compare code, shall we?

Same Story, Different Web Site

For those unfamiliar with reading HTML code, here are the HTML "markers", section by section, which show the HTML used on the Old Time Fox Trotters web site was copied from Equine Web Design.

To set the style and width of the layout, Old Time Foxtrotters mimics Equine Web Design's HTML code to the letter. Only the overall table width was changed. Equine Web Design used 770 pixels, while Old Time Fox Trotters used 789 pixels. The code generated by Caprine Designs' cutting and pasting into their HTML editor, DreamWeaver, included <tbody> before the HTML table row declaration, <tr> but omits the following table cell code <td>. Equine Web Design's HTML was "hand coded", however, so does not include the <tbody> and does include the HTML for the following table cell, <td>.

This block of HTML code was followed in both cases by style <div id="header">.

Could Be Coincidence?

Honestly, that first block of code isn't that unusual and it's conceivable more than one web site might begin their page layout nearly the same. However, the code that follows is the most incriminating and offers the evidence that proves, without a doubt, Caprine Designs used Equine Web Design's code as a template once again for oldtimefoxtrotters.com.
